Nikki Wald has provided counseling services to youth for six years. Most recently, she focused on individual therapy with high-achieving, gifted, and talented adolescents in a rigorous academic setting. She has worked with a diverse population of youth in multiple settings, to include a few: school social work, substance use treatment, and case management with youth experiencing homelessness. Nikki's approach to therapeutic work with anyone is transparent— honesty and acceptance go hand in hand and our untapped strengths are the way to addressing emotional turmoil.
Nikki graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work with a Masters in Social Work in 2013. She is dedicated to connecting with, and empowering young people and those who care about them. Nikki possesses expertise in trauma informed care and recovery, crisis response, positive youth development, gender identity, substance use, attachment, identity development, sexual orientation, and developing manageable approaches to tough circumstances.
What Nikki wants you to know:
My greatest gift is the ability to quickly tap into strengths and individual beauty. My greatest passion is learning alongside my clients on the path to recognizing the invaluable personal qualities that only they possess. My greatest joy is observing how surprised we can be by what we hold so dear, yet rarely acknowledge about ourselves. I love to problem-solve, but often find that overcoming mental and emotional difficulties lies beneath the surface and I am honored to accompany folks as they make this discovery.
